Mechanical Assembler/Warehouse Worker

Location: BC

Job Description: Complete activities related to processing orders - this includes but is not limited to picking parts, assembling manual and electric hoists, and preparing orders for transportation. The individual will also be responsible for warehouse activities such as unloading, sorting, and putting away inventory.

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Primary Duties

• Mechanical assembly of manual and powered hoist products
• Operate forklift
• Pick parts for parts orders
• Perform general physical activities in order to load, unload, sort and move shipments by hand or using material handling equipment
• Inspect shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of shipment
• Pack, seal, and label materials to prepare for shipping
• Adhere to production policies/procedures, and regulatory compliance procedures
• Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and/or standards and complete appropriate documentation as required
• Maintain production and warehouse areas using Lean and 5S principles
• Complete incident reports in relation to health and safety issues
• Update and maintain relevant data systems (ERP, Kanban Boards, etc.)
• Recording and reporting non-conformances between parts, assemblies, sales orders, etc.
• Assist in maintaining warehouse organization

Qualifications

Education and Experience

o Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Business Central preferred, but not required.
o A clean driving record is desirable. Forklift certification preferred.
o Experience with 5S and lean manufacturing an asset

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

o Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude would be an asset
o Strong communications skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
o Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety.
o Ability to lift up to 60 pounds required on a routine basis.
o Ability to take direction and follow pre-established guidelines
o Ability to multitask and prioritize
o Ability to perform basic math
o Ability to work alone with minimum supervision
o Ability to work in a team environment

Working Conditions

• Work will be of a physical nature inside a warehouse
• Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Hours may fluctuate on business volume and some overtime may be required from time to time.
• Steel toe boots must be worn at all times when in the warehouse.

Shipper/Receiver

Location: Ontario

Job Description: Manages the shipping and receiving of all products, materials and supplies to customers and internal organizations. Collaborates and communicates with assembly technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products. Be flexible to work in production to perform tasks related to hoist assemblies as required. 

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Primary Duties

• Perform general physical activities in order to load, unload, sort and move shipments by hand or using material handling equipment
• Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of shipment
• Pick, pack, seal, and label materials to prepare for shipping
• Track, trace, and update the status of incoming and outgoing shipments
• Perform tasks in varying temperature environments
• Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and/or standards and complete appropriate documentation as required
• May determine the shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
• Record shipment data for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes
• Contact carrier representatives to coordinate the shipping and delivery of materials
• Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and non-conformance to specifications
• Order and store shipping supplies to maintain stock inventory
• Maintain shipping and receiving area using Lean and 5S principles
• Deliver or route materials to other departments using material handling devices
• Provide on the job training to new/junior staff
• Assist in the Mechanical assembly of manual & powered hoist products
• Update and maintain relevant data systems (ERP, Kanban Boards, etc)
• Record and report non-conformances between parts, assemblies, sales orders, and vendor receipts
• Assist in maintaining warehouse organization
• Operate Forklift

Qualifications

o Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
o Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Products and Microsoft Dynamics NAV preferred, but not required.
o A clean driving record is desirable. Forklift certification preferred.
o Experience with 5S and lean manufacturing an asset
